At Sea Probe Deep Sea Fishing Charters one of our most common catches is the Flat Head, so we have a few tantalising recipes that will give you the perfect end to the perfect day.
Delicious Flathead Recipes to make your Mouth Water!
Family and friends can enjoy an amazing feed as you tell them about your fishing adventures with this great little recipe of oven baked flathead, smothered in rich butter sauce.
This simple dish is quick, easy, and tasty.
- Your Flathead from your fishing trip
- 80 grams of cubed butter
- A sprinkle of chopped parsley
- 2 tablespoons of capers
- Lemon Juice
- A tablespoon of olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees or get the BBQ ready.
Grease your oven tray with some butter or line the tray with non-stick paper and place your flathead in; smother your fish with butter, sprinkle some parsley, add a squeeze of lemon juice, mix in your capers, and throw in a dash of salt.
Now place in the oven or BBQ, sit back, relax, have a beer, and 10 minutes later your flathead should be ready to eat; be careful to check that your fish is fully cooked.
Add some veggies, or a salad, and bon appetite.
Grilled Flathead with homemade pesto sauce
Another firm favourite recipe of the Sea Probe Deep Sea Fishing Charter’s team is grilled flathead with our homemade pesto sauce; this is a simple dish with a lot of flavour.
- Your flathead fish
- A dash of olive oil
- Fresh basil
- 1 teaspoon of garlic mince, or 2 cloves of garlic
- A handful of pine nuts
- Parmesan cheese, add to taste starting with 1 tablespoon and add more as required.
- 250ml of extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper
This is the perfect dish to get the air fryer out for, simply coat your fish in olive oil and season with salt and pepper and place them in the air fryer basket and leave for approximately 10 minutes.
Whilst your fish is cooking get your basil leaves, garlic, pine nuts, parmesan cheese and olive oil and place them in a food mixer until you have a beautiful sauce; you can of course go old-school and use your pestle and mortar to grind your ingredients.
Once your sauce is ready, add some salt and drizzle onto your steaming hot fish.
Serve with baby potatoes and asparagus, and pair with a nice sauvignon blanc or chardonnay.
